Rachel Parent

From a very young age, Rachel has shown a true compassion for the protection of animals, the less fortunate, and elderly. She attended a small school that encouraged caring for others by sharing her innate talents for singing and the playing guitar with the York Region Police choir. When Rachel was 12 years old, she received an assignment to give a speech for all the students at her School, on a topic that would be of interest to her. Rachel struggled to decide among the many topics that she was passionate about, ranging from GMOs and Animal Cruelty, to Poverty in Canada, and Global Deforestation. Eventually she decided on GMOs, as she felt it represented the most opportunity to change many lives, to better everyone’s health, and help improve our overburdened health care system.
When not educating people about GMOs, Rachel volunteers in youth organizations around the world, works in her organic garden, enjoys horseback riding, formulating natural cosmetics, and working at an animal sanctuary rescue camp, where she helps take care of tigers, monkeys and lemurs.

Organization: Ganohkwasra Family Support Services
Ganǫhkwásrâ is a phrase in the Cayuga language meaning “Love Among Us.” The organization provides- through a non-profit organization, stabilization, maintenance, revitalization and enhancement of the family structure in a safe and culturally sensitive manner.
Ganǫhkwásrâ was the name chosen for the organization at Six Nations early in planning to express their purpose and philosophy in creating a community-based program for victims of family violence. It conveys an attitude of community support and hope for families wrought with violence and it implies a sense of community responsibility for peace among all members. Ganǫhkwásra’ is the goal they seek for every member of their community, and it is the methodology through which they work to attain that goal.
Philosophy: We are all born with ganikwi:yo (a good mind) and interconnectedness, therefore everything we need to end violence is within us.
Vision: With GANOHKWASRA (love among us), we bury our weapons of violence to create a safe and caring community for all generations.

Michael Brooke
Michael Brooke is a fifty-something self-proclaimed "skategeezer" who has been skateboarding for over 40 years. Michael publishes Concrete Wave Magazine and in 2012, he founded Longboarding for Peace. The first mission was to Israel and the Palestinian Territories to get Arab and Israeli children skating together. LFP is now in over 25 countries. It is not a charity or non-profit. It is simply a movement forward.
LFP embodies the spirit of all that is good and pure about Longboarding.
The movement empowers people to harness the sense of flow and freedom they enjoy from riding and create a better world. LFP encourages to riders step on, step up and make great things happen in their communities.
The movement encourages blood donation via its Blood From Boarders Campaign. It also shines a spotlight on the wrongfully convicted and fosters conservation of water through its Flow State U (where every drop out counts).
LFP is recruiting agents of change in a global Peace Army of 50,000 people. Each of them will commit at least one act of kindness every single day. This will generate over 20 million acts of kindness per year. Michael has much to share on May 30th in what he has accomplished.
